Skinners’ Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reflective and committed Teacher of Business Studies to join the Business, Economics and Computing Faculty at Skinners’ Academy on a 1 year fixed term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled classroom practitioner to provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences, support students to achieve excellent outcomes and contribute to the wider life of the Academy.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Business Studies to students across key stages, following the Academy’s teaching and learning principles and maintaining consistently high standards of lesson preparation, teaching and classroom management.
• Set high expectations for learning, motivation and presentation of work, using effective assessment, feedback and homework to support student progress.
• Track, assess, record and report on student achievement, using data to identify underperformance and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Contribute to intervention strategies and programmes that support students’ progress and attainment, including students with additional learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice, plan effectively and contribute to well-sequenced, rigorous and differentiated schemes of work.
• Support curriculum development, including the creation and refinement of resources, booklets and learning opportunities that promote students’ engagement with Business Studies.
• Contribute to the wider Academy community through extracurricular and enrichment activities, trips and other learning experiences.
• Fulfil the role of form tutor, or another pastoral role as directed, supporting effective home-school liaison and contributing to students’ personal development.

About you

You will be a motivated and ambitious teacher who can inspire and engage students, enabling them to fulfil their potential. You will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom practice and a commitment to working collaboratively in a diverse inner-city school where high expectations, inclusion and personal development are central to success.

• Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in Business Studies or a related discipline.
• Qualified Teacher Status.
• Experience of delivering Business Studies to students at Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience desirable.
• Excellent teaching ability and a strong understanding of effective classroom practice, assessment and behaviour management.
• Ability to use ICT effectively to enhance teaching and learning and raise student achievement.
• Ability to support students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs, to achieve excellent outcomes.
• Strong organisation, communication and workload management skills, with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
• Excellent pastoral skills and the ability to work constructively with students, parents, carers, colleagues and wider stakeholders.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and to contributing to the success of the Faculty and wider Academy community.
