Receptionist - (AM)Back
Skinners’ Academies Trust is seeking to appoint a professional, welcoming and highly organised Receptionist to join the team at Skinners’ Academy. This is an important front-facing role, providing a first-class reception service for the Academy and high-quality administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the school office.
The role is part time, 21.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:45am to 12:00pm Permanent, Term Time Only (39 weeks per year)

Key responsibilities
- Provide a professional reception service and act as the first point of contact for visitors, pupils, parents, staff and governors.
- Operate the Academy’s main telephone system, including taking and passing on messages, transferring calls and contacting parents or external agencies as directed.
- Manage visitor access to the Academy, including preparing passes, signing visitors in, checking identification and DBS documentation, and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Use the electronic entry system for Academy gates and support the safe and efficient arrival of parents, students and visitors.
- Maintain accurate logs of visitors, telephone calls, deliveries and relevant Academy business.
- Monitor the enquiries and administrative email account, responding to or forwarding messages as appropriate.
- Provide administrative support as directed, including word processing, parental contact and updating communication systems.
- Ensure the reception area is welcoming, tidy and professional at all times.
About you
You will be a calm, organised and approachable professional who takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You will enjoy working in a busy school environment, communicate confidently with a wide range of people and remain positive and professional when managing competing priorities.
- Five GCSEs at grade A*–C, or grade 5+, including English and Maths.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office and a range of administrative systems.
- General office experience, including answering telephones and managing a range of administrative tasks.
- Experience of dealing effectively with the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- A flexible approach and commitment to contributing to the success of the wider team.
